Last year was totally taken over by COVID-19, but now that the vaccine is available, travellers have started planning their destinations with more awareness and safety.
I recently had a trip to Pelling and witnessed the breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga peak and the Himalayas, The place is so beautiful that I couldn't resist myself sharing about this beautiful little place and help you all in planning your best stay in Pelling.
Pelling is a small town situated in west Sikkim located at an altitude of 6800 ft. Over the time it has emerged as second biggest tourist hotspot in Sikkim, Gangtok being the first.
Pelling is known for its cultural heritage and history and at the same time offers trekking, river-rafting, kayaking, motor-biking and lot of sightseeing . The combinations can make your trip one of the best you ever had.
So, if you are a nature lover, the culturist or the urban traveller and planning to travel soon, this place can be your best destination.
Pelling has a lot to offer but for your 3-4 days stay I've shortlisted 10 Best Places which I found a must visit place according to my 3 days trip experience in Pelling.

1. DARAP VILLAGE
If you want a escape from the crowded town and looking for a bucolic life, enjoy the village tourism in Darap village.
The village is a living testimony of the Limboo culture and tradition that blend with natural resources and biodiversity, more than elsewhere in the state of Sikkim.

You can find plenty of Homestays in Darap village also known as Darap cherry village.
They offer you quiet a village retreat with home made food made out of their own harvested herbs and flowers.
Starting from a cup of tea or Coffee in the morning to pickles made out of flowers I loved whole experience of my homestay in Darap Village

Once you are there, you will end up loving how they use nature in their day to day life and bring the best out of it.

2. KANCHENJUNGA WATERFALLS
Kanchenjunga has the closest view from Pelling until you opt for trekking. Kanchenjunga is located at a distance of about 25-28 km from main town and You can hire a jeep, car etc. for a full day.
You can watch the falls from the road itself but You would like to go inside and spent some time around water. The entry fee is Rs 20-30. Go inside and click some pictures to get flash of memories later.
TIMING : 8 am - 6 pm
3. RIMBI WATERFALLS
Rimbi waterfall is formed over Rimbi river and and serves as quite an ideal place to relax. Rimbi falls is one of the most attractive tourist place in Pelling at a distance of about 12-13 km from Pelling.
You'll witness a large volume of water waves falling over massive rocks surrounded by emerald greenery.
Just outside the waterfall, you can find little tea stalls that also provide momos, noodle etc. . You can sit down there and eat while watching the fall hitting the ground and splashing all around.
Overall the fall is small but quite scenic. You won't like to miss this place at all.
One more reason to visit this place is River orange garden which is 1 km from Rimbi waterfalls and my No.3 in Top 10 places to visit in Pelling list.
4. RIVER ORANGE GARDEN
The flowing Rimbi river amid green forest is quite a scenic view.
You'd need to walk down to the garden full of orange trees and different kind of colourful flowers.

You'll reach down to the river and you can find 3-4 little restaurants which provide great dumplings, noodles and amazing fruit and flower wines.
The special part is that you can sit there in the rock keeping your legs in flowing water and enjoy your noodles with their special fruit wine.
One of my most favourite spot I visited in Pelling. Don't miss it out to earn a lifelong memory out there.
5. PELLING SKYWALK
Pelling Skywalk- India's very first Glass skywalk .
A transparent bridge at a height of 7,200 feet above the sea level.

The Pelling Skywalk was inaugurated in November 2018 and it has already gained enough popularity to be one of the most famous attraction in Pelling tourism.
You can watch the fourth tallest statue of Chenrezig that is 137 feet tall while walking on this bridge. The overall surrounding is quite scenic with all the assorted peaks you get to see from the bridge.
You also get to enjoy the breathtaking view of kanchenjunga from skywalk.

Can you see the Scene behind me! Isn't it so peaceful to walk on a transparent glass with such scenic views all around.
I am already planning to visit this beauty again.
Pelling Skywalk is already a bit too popular now. You just can't complete your Pelling Tourism without experiencing this glass skywalk.

6. CHENREZIG STATUE
Fourth Tallest Statue of Sikkim with a height of 137 ft and about 160-170 stairs located at an elevation of 7,200 meters at Sangachoeling Monastery forming the shape of a triangle.
This view from the top is everything.
If you are a nature lover, you are gonna love the views and get lost in the peaceful environment out there seeing the monks chanting prayers, the sound of prayer wheels and scenery all around.
Locals believe that people visiting this place get the ultimate blessing of Buddha.
7. SANGACHOELING MONASTERY
One of the oldest monasteries of Sikkim.
The speciality of SANGACHOELING MONASTERY is their morning and evening prayers.
The exciting part that attracts tourism is that the best route to reach this monastery is trekking via rich forests and hilly terrains.
The whole place is designed according to Tibetan architecture. You can see ancient paintings, accessories, clay statues, ancient Buddha sculptures etc.
Timing: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
8. PEMAYANGTSE GOMPA
Second oldest monastery of Sikkim (around 300 years old) which is said to represent Buddhist leader Rinpoche's heavenly palace called 'Santopalri'.
The whole place is surrounded with beautiful gardens and ancient sculptures.
The place will fill you up with spiritual vibe.
Timing: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
9. RABDENTSE RUINS
This is a must visit place for people who enjoy seeing ancient architectures. However whether you are a history buff or a nature enthusiast, the palace is gonna leave you thrilled.
It can be reached by trekking down 2 kms from Pemayangtse gompa.
If you are planning for hiking, it takes 1.5 km hike from ruins' entrance to Rabdentse through a forest of chestnut trees, lake and breathtaking sights.
Before visiting this place, prepare yourself for a tough upward walk of 30-40 minutes. But i'm sure it will be all worth it once you reach the palace and witness
the kings austere throne made of stone, comprising three standing stones called Namphogang which was the pulpit of the judges from where they used to pronounce the judgements during their active days.
You may also find the remains of king's royal kitchen, personal quarters, assembly rooms etc.

10. KHECHEOPALRI LAKE
Wooden Jetty followed by prayer wheels lead you to this beautiful lake full of fishes.
You can buy fish food and feed them.
February- March is the best time to visit this place as you can witness the religious fair that held at lake. Hordes of people make bamboo boats and butter lamps and sail across the lake .
It is also called wish fulfilling lake.
In Hinduism, it is said that Khecheopalri lake originated when Lord Shiva stepped on the land.
This place is also heaven for a birdwatcher as you can witness a variety of birds flying across the area.
If you love spending time in nature with silence while enjoying watching various species of birds flying across, bunch of fishes playing all around and calming sound of prayer wheels, you should include this place in your list.
So, these were my recommendation as top 10 places if you are planning to stay in pelling for 2-3 days. But there are still a lot of amazing places to visit in Pelling. If you have a longer time, consider visiting those as well.

Make sure to keep enough cash with you as I barely saw any ATM out there.
Also digital transaction is not very common especially in village area.
