Hey all!  Welcome to my Blog

I can't really put into words the happiness I am feeling right now to give you all a virtual tour to India's one of the most beautiful monument, Taj Mahal.

So, In this article, I'll be discussing about :

  • Taj Mahal Architecture
  • Taj Mahal from inside

  • Black Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal Architecture

According to government's official Taj Mahal website,  "Taj Mahal represents a style that combines elements from Persian, Indian and Islamic architectural styles.

It is made up of white marble inlaid with semi precious stones. The whole complex is bordered on three sides by red sand stone walls.

The main structure is surrounded by gardens, fountains and pools.
You can have a glimpse of The Taj Mahal and the outlaying buildings on both sides from the Yamuna river altogether.

Exactly between the tomb and the gateway is a marble water pool which reflects the image of the main building.

On the main gate, you can read the beautiful writing that reads " O soul, thou art at rest. " that means "Return to the lord at peace with him, and he at peace with you"

It is believed that the whole palace was constructed using white marbles so that it will reflect rainbow colours coming from the white sunlight at different point of time.

Inside Taj Mahal, on the white marble panels, you can witness the beautiful calligraphy, most of which

are beautiful passages that are taken from the holy book of
 Quran.

The palace contains 120 rooms and a hall of mirrors which is popularly known as Sheesh mahal.
A secret floor below conceals more than 1089 rooms.

Inside Taj Mahal, the main focus is the tomb enclosed inside an eight sided chamber adorned with semi-precious stones. However, according to Mughal traditions, coffins are not supposed be decorated so, these tombs are just for show.

The actual coffin lies in secret room below the tombs at a garden level and to keep their original graves safe, the basement has been sealed.

Best Time To Visit Taj Mahal

The best time to visit this place winters that is from November to February.

Taj Mahal is situated in Agra and Agra basically suffers heavy rainfall during spring which can make it difficult for a traveller to enjoy the sight seeing .

During Summer Agra suffers the unbearable heat which can again make it difficult for a traveller to explore the beauty of Taj.

Black Taj Mahal

Well, there is not a literal black Taj Mahal out there but according to some popular stories, it is said that Shah Jahan actually started to build a replica of Taj Mahal with black marble exactly opposite to white Taj Mahal across river Yamuna along with a bridge connecting those 2 monuments.

It is said that he was building the Black Taj Mahal to serve as his own tomb while the white Taj Mahal for his wife.

However, some legends totally find it a myth but some people found evidences supporting the theory well.

One of the most fit evidence is that the tomb of Shah Jahan is offset from the center of his wife's tomb which make it evident that his tomb was actually not supposed to be there but an afterthought, because except this particular place, the whole architecture is perfectly symmetrical and reflects Shah Jahan's obsession for symmetry.
